Had a great time playing and learning this game. For me the extent of the updated training missions was just right to learn how to play. I had to replay some of them to deduct the game mechanics but imo this is part of the whole fun.

There is only one thing I would like to ask for: while the game is paused I would like to get rid of the pause menu to see the whole map. This to review what happened and also to plan ahead. I see several ways to do this:

  1. Just add an option to the pause menu to display the whole map. Any or every key could unlock this mode to let you play again.
  2. If this is perceived as cheating there are again several ways do deal with this. One would be to add a counter for the times the pause state was engaged. This counter could be displayed at the end of the game.
  3. Or add an option to the main menu (challenge mode) to disable the pause function completely. So if someone hits Enter in this mode, the whole map would be blanked out and just the options to reset the game or to return to the main menu would be available. Of course there should be something on the win screen that hints on the challenge mode for bragging rights.

The challenge mode would then run in combination with option 1 or 2.

Needs a more comprehensive tutorial. I'm on the third (fourth? I lost count) level of the tutorial and I'm close to quitting because I can't figure out how to get more water tiles.

Highest score I managed to get is 413. I'm still not sure I understand all the transitions though

Wonderfully nuanced game! Some mechanics lack explanation and take a bit to get used to, but I think that's part of the charm! Needing to learn how things interact yourself makes this a fun little head-scratcher.

made it to 475 fun little game

hella confusing but at least i beat it

Eco index 59.  Is that good?  I do not know.

it's a great start!! finishing a real deployment map is no small feat imo. That said, i think 200 is a GOOD score... the highest I've seen is over 600 tho. That's for Real Sickos IMO

Any chance of a CorgiSpace 2 with another batch of pico-8 games?

I added it to CorgiSpace 1 instead!

You're the best! I have always loved your work at Finji, but your pico-8 run in the last year has really solidified you as an all-time great in my eyes. Thank you for all of these incredible free games!!

Redesigned some of the training missions and rewrote some of the mission prompts. Hopefully made some of the core concepts easier to pick up without spoiling the fun of figuring out how the ecology works!

Thank you, I'd say the training missions are now way more intuitive and I get how things work now lol. And yes, I do agree that explaining all the mechanics right away would be boring

Another great pico game. Saltsman you are the master. I think figuring out the rules is the whole fun of the game, and wouldn't want a guide beyond the tutorial.

Was thinking the same!

I have no idea what anything does >_< it would help if the text that shows what happens after using up resource cards advanced a bit slower and/or I had a better explanation of how you get the various resources

I agree with you on the first one and I had to replay so many times to get this right and as it's given by the game I suppose it's not a spoiler to post it here:

  1. Dry up
  2. Soak
  3. Spread
  4. Grow
  5. Draft
  6. Collect

Maybe that makes it easier to figure out the other stuff. Just a hint: the resource cards you get aren't random but based on what happens in the game. Just if there isn't enough space to add any more to your dock there is a degree of randomness in selecting those that can be added.

it's funny ^^
